Who We Are
“People don’t stop climbing mountains because they get old; they get old because they stop climbing mountains.”
Don MacLaren joined the OfficeLease team in 1984 to blaze the tenant representation trail that has served as the foundation for the firm’s success. After a 35-year multifaceted career with Exxon in which his duties ranged between research and development and authoring 30 patents to new business development, he also served as vice president of Exxon Enterprises’ newly formed real estate department.
Don’s keen interest and passion for economic analysis makes him a valuable partner to guide clients toward making their best real estate decisions. Clients say that his facility with numbers and analysis is remarkable and that he is a pleasure to work with.
Originally from Brooklyn, Don holds Bachelor and Master of Science Degrees in Chemical Engineering from Columbia University. He was an active alumnus having served as president of the Engineering School Alumni Association and the Alumni Federation. He has written over 150 Real Estate columns for Venturer, the Northwest Venture Group monthly newsletter as well as a number of other local publications.
An 81 year old with perfect vision, MacLaren is an avid back country skier and hiker. He started climbing mountains at age 15 – and has scaled all 46, 4,000 foot peaks in the New Hampshire’s White Mountains. He says he has no plans to stop anytime soon.
